Till settings (printer, scale, customer display)
Use this page when you need to pair or re-pair a printer, scale, or customer display on the till, or change how the till behaves at the counter.
Goal

Core App demo store — screens may differ slightly by version.
You need to set up or change the till's hardware (receipt printer, scale, customer-facing display, cash drawer) so sales work the way your store expects.
Where this happens
- On the till (Retail POS App or Restaurant POS App): open Settings from the till home screen or drawer (Restaurant POS route
/settings, viewSettingsView.vue). - In the back office (Core App): the till's hardware registration lives at the franchise level — your franchise admin can re-register a device.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the till with a role that has Settings permission.
- The hardware is plugged in (USB or network) or paired over Bluetooth / Wi-Fi.
- Your franchise admin has approved the device; some franchises only allow approved hardware.
Steps
1. Open Settings on the till
On the till home screen or drawer, open Settings (route /settings). The screen opens with the page title Device Settings and the General Settings tab active. On desktop the other tabs are: Printer Settings, Special Settings, Display Settings, LED Display. On mobile the same tabs appear with shorter labels: General, Printer, Special, Display, LED.
The header bar shows your device name plus these buttons: Email Settings, Table Settings, Table Logs, Save Settings, Switch Store, Sign Out.
2. Set up the printer and cash drawer (Printer Settings tab)
- Tap Printer Settings.
- Pick Receipt Type (Normal / NonGraphical2 / Unbranded / Basic / 55mm) — controls the customer-receipt format.
- Pick Bill Slip Type (Normal / Normal 2 / Reduced / Basic) — controls the bill-slip format.
- Pick the Main Receipt Printer from the printers available on the till.
- Pick the Cash Drawer dropdown — the printer that controls the cash-drawer kick.
- (Optional) assign Printer 1, Printer 2, Printer 3 for additional station printers.
- Tap Save Settings to persist.
3. Pair the scale (General Settings tab — Scale Configuration)
- On General Settings, scroll to Scale Configuration.
- Tick Use Scale Integration to enable the scale.
- Pick the Scale COM Port (tap Refresh to re-scan ports).
- Pick the Baud Rate (9600 / 19200 / 38400 / 115200), Data Bits (7 / 8), and Parity (None / Odd / Even) the scale uses.
- Pick the Scale Model / Protocol — Standard (Default), Toledo / Mettler, CAS / Basic Scale, Sangjie, Digi, Accumulate (Fragmented Data), or Custom (Decimal).
- If you picked Custom, set Decimal Places (2 / 3 / 4).
- Pick the Scale Unit (Kilograms / Grams) and Scale Characters (RAW / ASCII).
- Use Capture Data (1s) to grab a one-second sample of the scale output, then Save Local Config.
- Place a known weight on the scale to confirm the reading matches.
4. Pair the customer-facing display (Display Settings tab)
- Tap Display Settings.
- Tap Detect Available Screens to enumerate connected displays.
- Pick the Customer Display Screen from the dropdown (the screen currently showing the POS is excluded).
- Tick Enable Customer Display.
- Use Open Customer Display to launch the window; Close Customer Display to dismiss it.
- (Optional) set Promotions Folder to a directory of JPG / PNG / GIF images and use Load Promotional Images to preview them on the customer display.
5. Configure the LED pole display (LED Display tab)
- Tap LED Display.
- Pick the Serial Port for the LED display.
- Pick the Baud Rate (2400 / 9600 / 19200 / 38400).
- Pick the Value to Display during transactions (Sale Total / Paid Amount / Change).
- Tick Enable LED Display.
- Tap Test LED Display (120) to send a test value to the LED; tap Save LED Config to persist.
6. Save and restart the till (if asked)
Some settings only apply after a till restart. If the screen asks, close the till app and re-open it; do not power off the device.
Expected result
- Every paired device appears in the relevant Settings tab as enabled / connected.
- A test receipt prints from the paired printer and the cash drawer kicks.
- A test weight shows correctly on the till when placed on the scale.
- The customer display mirrors the running sale total.
Edge cases
- A device is not discovered. Check the cable, network, or Bluetooth pairing; restart the device. If still missing, ask your supervisor — some hardware is only allowed at the franchise level.
- The printer prints the wrong characters. The wrong character set is selected; ask your supervisor to set the correct one in Settings → Printer.
- The scale weight is off. Zero or tare the scale from Settings → General → Scale Configuration, or ask your supervisor to recalibrate.
- The till asks for a registration code. The till is not registered to your franchise yet; contact Support with the till's device ID.
- You cannot see Settings on the till. Your role may not have Settings permission; ask your supervisor.
